Genotyping under the Scrapie Flock Certification Program

Laboratories Completing Genotype Testing Under the SFCP:

There are two groups of laboratories that complete genotype testing under the SFCP- one group has been CFIA approved and the other group has not been CFIA approved.

Producers must use a CFIA approved laboratory under some circumstances when completing genotype testing under the SFCP.  Under Pathway 2 and 3 of the SFCP, producers are asked to take two samples from participating rams (See Sections 5, 6 and 7 of the national standards).  In this case, one sample must be sent to an approved laboratory, while the second sample can be sent to a laboratory that has not been approved.

Producers who genotype under the SFCP can send samples to the following laboratories.
