The Canadian National Goat Federation, in collaboration with the Canadian Sheep Federation, is conducting a study of the prevalence of scrapie in the Canadian national goat herd. The existence of scrapie in a domestic population has significant impact on the health of the national herd and implications in international market access. Knowing the prevalence of scrapie in goats as its own population, and separately from sheep, will help the industry work towards a national eradication strategy and prove a valuable tool in establishing international trading partners. The success of the project and the prevalence study depends on the participation of Canadian goat producers as producers will be asked to voluntarily submit samples for scrapie testing. In order to gauge the potential participation of industry members, the CNGF is conducting a short survey. We would like to ask if you could please take a moment to complete this brief 2 question survey. Your help and participation is greatly appreciated and a valuable asset to the industry.
